The Worst Things to Buy in October
Bring balance to the “consumerism universe” by knowing what items you should wait until after October to purchase.
1. Gift Cards
In my holiday shopping experience, gift cards are the gifts that keep on giving. It’s a nice purchase to make for that hard-to-buy-for friend/relative/spouse, but it’s a good idea to wait to buy these until closer to the holidays when you may see incentives or discounts for gift cards.
2. Toys
It’s never too early to grab one or two toys if it’s a popular item or if you have a lot of little ones to buy for the holidays. However, if there’s a big ticket item that you’re not afraid of selling out too fast, you’ll get a better deal at the doorbuster sales during Black Friday and even throughout the month of December.
3. Cosmetics
Adding fall/winter colors and tones in your makeup routine can be a really fun part of the seasons changing! Keep an eye out for after Halloween sales on your favorite items. Drug stores and departments will typically offer deals on most cosmetic brands.
4. Electronics
Laptops, televisions, Apple products, and any other expensive electronic items typically aren’t recommended for the best deals because Black Friday is right around the corner.
5. Cold weather apparel
It’s typical to see a spike in cold weather apparel prices as the weather turns chilly. Bringing out last year’s fall clothes can save your budget. Just want to change up your fall wardrobe? Visit any local boutique thrift store to save while adding to what’s in your closet!
