Valentine’s Day can be stressful trying to plan the perfect day or evening on a tight budget.

Here are four ways to have a budget friendly Valentine’s Day:

Make your card and gift.

Switch it up from the cliché chocolates and flowers this year. If you’re not the craftiest person, Pinterest can be your best friend. There are so many ideas to choose from and many are easy to create. For example, you can make a sweet scrapbook, write a poem, or even create something useful to use around the house. Your significant other is sure to appreciate your time, effort, and thought!

Take a trip down memory lane.

Get out of the house and do something fun by taking a trip down memory lane with your loved one.  Bring your significant other to the place you first met, your first date, or show him/her around your home town if you’re from different backgrounds.

Spend your Valentine’s Day volunteering.

Valentine’s Day is all about sharing love and appreciation. Spending time volunteering with your loved one can not only help make your Valentine’s Day special, but you’ll be making someone else’s day special as well. If you need ideas, look online to find local opportunities!

Stay inside.

If dealing with reservations and crowds isn’t your thing, think about staying in. Cook your favorite meal and binge watch your favorite TV shows is simple, yet a fun date night idea. This might not be the most extravagant Valentine’s Day, but it will definitely be relaxing (especially since the holiday is in the middle of the work week).

Want to go “all out”? Save in advance.

You might not be able to save in time for Valentine’s Day this year, but you can plan for the future. If you’re one for extravagant dates and fancy high-ticket presents, add it into your budget for next year!
