Cool Things You Didn't Know About CO-OP Financial Services

Last week, I attended a training session at the Missouri Credit Union Association. The event focused around educating young credit union employees about the basics of the credit union movement. Our presenter brought up a really interesting fact: There are more credit union CO-OP ATMs than a certain large bank. I guess that throws out the argument that big banks are more convenient!

CO-OP Financial Services, like shared branches and CO-OP ATMs, are the perfect example of the cooperative movement. How great is it that you can walk into a branch of another credit union across the country and deposit a check free of charge? In college, I spent a summer in New York City. My bank had no branches or ATMs there, so if I wanted to avoid a $5 ATM fee, I had to go to Walgreens and get cash back. Had I been an American Eagle member, I would have had access to 100 free ATMs in the city.

This got me thinking: What else do consumers not know about CO-OP services? Lucky for you, we’re here to clear a few things up.

Now that you know a bit more about CO-OP ATM and shared branch services, utilize some of the resources available to you as a credit union member. Download the CO-OP ATM Finder app, or click here to locate a shared branch or ATM near you. This will come in handy on your next business trip, vacation or even just trip across town.

Do you “C.U.” taking advantage of the CO-OP financial services? Let us know in the comments!
