Free/Cheap Spring Activities

It’s officially spring which means several months’ worth of pent up energy will be spent scrambling for outdoor fun before we yield to the summer heat and return to our indoor havens.  So much to do, so little time.  To maximize your time, I’ve compiled a list of budget-friendly St. Louis activities to partake in during the next few weeks.

St. Louis Zoo: Obvious choice, but the St. Louis Zoo deserves all the hype it receives. 

St. Louis Art Museum: Like the zoo, admission to the art museum is always free.  With a huge variety of cultures and time periods, there’s something here for everyone.

Forest Park: We might as well just add the entire park to the list.  Enjoy some of the best architecture, wildlife, and landscapes that the city has to offer.

Cherokee Street: Take a stroll down this historic road and enjoy the specialty shops, arts, and restaurants.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery: This is true St. Louis heritage right here, folks.  Free tour and beer for those age 21 and over.

Bellefontaine Cemetery: This gorgeous cemetery is famous for its architecture and history.

Delmar Loop: Tons of shops, eats, and drinks.

Laumeier Sculpture Park: This park hosts a large display of really interesting outdoor sculptures.

Cahokia Mounds: These centuries old mounds located just outside of town are the largest man made mounds north of Mexico.  So much fascinating history here.

Grant’s Farm: This huge wildlife preserve is a great family attraction.
